National Production Day

National Production Day

Buying national products is, without a doubt, the best solution in economic, social and environmental terms to get out of this crisis

The current public health, social and economic crisis, created by Covid-19, has brought to the “light of day” Europe’s inconceivable   dependence on to China in the supply of products, many of them vital to society, as was recently seen with masks, ventilators and protective equipment.

Therefore, there is nothing more current than raising awareness among consumers, on National Production Day which is celebrated today, April 26th, to buy more “Made In Portugal” and the many advantages inherent therein.

It is time to look differently at a set of choices and decisions that we make daily, in order to put more products manufactured in Portugal in the “cart”. This option will make all the difference in boosting the domestic economy and improving the well-being of the population.

Among the numerous advantages of consuming national products, we highlight:

  • Contributes to the growth of the national economy
  • Reduces the trade balance deficit
  • Creates jobs
  • Makes national companies more competitive and larger
  • Promotes the settlement of populations

In addition to the economic and social aspects I mentioned, buying national products also has environmental advantages such as:

  • Significantly reducing the footprint ecological, because the distance between the producer and the consumer stops being thousands of kilometers and becomes a few tens or in the worst case scenario hundreds of kilometers.
  • Proximity between the manufacturer and the consumer, promotes and makes the circular economy much easier and more viable.

I cannot fail to note that, as we all know, China does not respect human rights nor the rights of companies, it recently banned the sale of Adidas, Nike and H&M products on Chinese websites, because they rebelled against the exploitation of the Uyghur minority.

Tucab has contributed greatly to the design of “Made in Portugal” by manufacturing and marketing unique products in Portugal, such as: filaments for 3D printing, tubes for medical devices in PVC and TPU manufactured in Sala Branca, corrugated tubes in Polyamide, spiral tubes, profiles with incorporated glue, etc…

If we all do our part by buying national products, Portugal will be better and if Portugal is better, the Portuguese will be better too. Do your part!
