TUCAB is proud to highlight the Fil3D family, our line of filaments for 3D printing that redefines standards of quality, precision and innovation. Produced in Portugal with advanced technology, Fil3D filaments offer exceptional performance for enthusiasts, designers and industries, combining technical versatility with a strong environmental commitment.
Precision Extrusion Engineering
Fil3D filaments are manufactured with a high precision extrusion process, using single screw extruders equipped with control systems dimensional in line. Each filament is produced with:
- Diameter tolerance: ±0.02 mm, ensuring uniform flow and avoiding blockages in printers.
- Minimum ovality: +0.01 mm, ensuring consistency in printed layers.
- Temperatures of optimized extrusions: They vary from 190°C (PLA) to 250°C (ABS), adjusted for each material.
Quality is assured by rigorous tests, including tensile analysis (ISO 527), impact resistance (ISO 179) and thermal stability, carried out in an in-house laboratory. Each roll is vacuum packed with silica desiccant to protect against moisture.
High Performance Materials
The Fil3D family offers a diverse range of filaments, including the new addition PLA, each with specific technical properties:
- PLA: Biodegradable, with tensile strength of 50 MPa and elongation of 6%. Ideal for detailed prints, it supports up to 60°C.
- PLA: An evolution of traditional PLA, with greater thermal resistance (up to 85°C after annealing) and superior mechanical resistance (60 MPa). Perfect for functional parts that require durability without sacrificing ease of printing.
- ABS: High impact resistance (15 kJ/m²) and soluble in acetone for smooth finishes. Withstands temperatures up to 90°C, ideal for mechanical components.
- PETG: Combines tensile strength (45 MPa) and flexibility (Shore D 70), with excellent adhesion between layers. Resists impacts and humidity.
- EVA: High elasticity (elongation up to 800%), light and soft (Shore A 50), great for flexible applications such as joints or supports.
Filaments are available in 1.75 mm (standard for FDM printers), with weights of 1 kg in rolls or samples of 15 meters for initial testing. Chemical purity control ensures the absence of impurities, with residual monomer levels below 0.1%.
Technology and Sustainability
Fil3D production combines technical innovation with ecological responsibility:
- Advanced equipment: Calibrated water cooling systems and optical sensors for real-time measurement.
- Sustainable materials: PLA and PLA are derived from renewable sources (corn starch), while up to 30% of ABS and PETG come from recycled polymers of high quality.
- Energy efficiency: We reduce consumption by 15% with heat recovery in extruders, in line with ISO 14001.
- Recyclability: Production waste is reincorporated into the process, and the rolls are packaged in materials recyclable.
Technical and Practical Applications
Fil3D filaments meet a wide range of needs:
- Functional prototyping: PLA is used in mechanical supports that require greater thermal resistance, such as parts for household appliances.
- Design creative: PLA in vibrant colors for architectural models or decorative objects.
- Industry: ABS for equipment housings with a post-processed finish, or PETG for supports exposed to the elements.
- Flexible applications: EVA in accessory prints ergonomics, such as grips or wedges.
Real case: An automotive customer used the Fil3D PLA to create tool holders that withstand temperatures of 80°C in workshops, eliminating the need for more expensive materials such as nylon.
Printing Parameters
For optimal results, we recommend:
- PLA: 190-210°C (nozzle), 50-60°C (base), speed 50-80 mm/s.
- PLA: 200-220°C (nozzle), 60-70°C (base), annealing optional at 100°C for 15 minutes for greater resistance.
- ABS: 230-250°C (nozzle), 90-110°C (base), closed chamber recommended.
- PETG: 220-240°C (nozzle), 70-80°C (base), moderate ventilation.
- EVA: 180-200°C (nozzle), no base heating, reduced speed (30-50 mm/s).
